Lamb Roast In Grabovac
April 28, 2006 – 5:06 amBeing in Croatia is doing wonders for my Croatian. Speaking the language is definitely coming more naturally, and I’m acquiring new vocabulary every day. The finer points of grammatical structure are another beast entirely, but Croatian grammar is a beast indeed to this native English speaker, even after eight years of Russian. Ma još uvijek učim…

The most enjoyable experience of the trip thus far was the lamb roast in Grabovac near Plitvica Lakes. Marijan and Mira Strinić were fantastic hosts. We shared songs and anecdotes through the night in the cool, pure air of Kordun. Absolutely magical. Hastily spun words will not do justice by the experience, but they are currently all that time affords me.
If you plan to travel through the Kordun region of Croatia, I encourage you to contact Marijan and Mira through the link above. Their accommodations are quite comfortable, well-appointed, and you’ll never wake to crisper, cleaner air. Marijan tells me that many people travel to the region specifically for the air.
